<p>Here are some tips you can use to <strong>start building a list</strong> the easiest way possible; and you can do it at a shoestring budget or even for free.</p>
<p><strong>List Building Tip # 1:</strong> Create an Attractive Squeeze Page.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ll need to first create a squeeze page giving away your free product. This page will need to have an optin box and a paid autoresponder like Aweber or Getresponse.</p>
<p>You can offer a simple 3 to 4 page report and let people know that you have more great information to offer them if they take the report and sign up for a free newsletter, or to receive e-mails.</p>
<p>If you don&#8217;t know how to build a squeeze page, you can look at profitable ones and use them for reference. If you look at the Google adwords appearing on the right-hand side of Google for your niche, you can assume that the ones appearing at the top of the list are making a good profit.</p>
<p>Depending on the niche, these marketers are paying a very high price to get their ad to show up at the top. This means that the squeeze page they are using is working at driving home sales.</p>
<p>Examine a few of these and see what they are doing to make their page a success. Make a few notes and then go onto the next. After you have looked at a few, you will see a pattern appear of what is working and making these sites profitable.</p>
<p><strong>List Building Tip # 2:</strong> Make Use of Ad Swaps</p>
<p>An ad swap is an agreement between two webmasters in the same niche to promote each other&#8217;s products. If you are just beginning and don&#8217;t have much of a list it can be quite difficult, so this is meant more for the owners of sites with larger lists.</p>
<p>It can also be used by anyone that has a new unique product that they are willing to give away for free to site owners in exchange for a list name.</p>
<p>If you have a product that you know will be of interest to customers in a niche, you can create a product which would normally sell at around $37 or $47; then let your affiliates sell it at a discounted rate ($27, half price, etc.) and give all the commissions to the affiliate. Let webmasters know that this opportunity is available for a limited time.</p>
<p>This is a win-win-win situation for all parties involved. You win because when people purchase the book, they will automatically agree to sign up to your list. The affiliate wins because he or she gets all the commissions, while enjoying a high conversion rate due to the special offer. The customer wins because he or she gets the product at a discounted price.</p>
<p>You can also offer a webmaster the chance to give your product away for free. They will send their customers to your free opt in page to pick up the product, and you will get another email. Most webmasters welcome the opportunity to give away a good free product, especially if there’s a one-time promo or affiliate offer involved in the process. If approached correctly, with a lot of respect, they would likely agree to do it.</p>

If you have tried building traffic with article marketing or some other method to make immediate affiliate sales and have found it difficult, don&#8217;t assume that the same will happen if you offer a free product.</p>
<p>Traffic conversions for free stuff are quite different than those for affiliate sales. If you continue to build a traffic system and continue to test it, you can get a lot of people joining your list very quickly.</p>
<p><strong>List Building Tip # 4:</strong> Keep Your List Happy.</p>
<p>Having a list is one of the most important things you can do for your business. It is a treasure chest full of opportunity; and when times get slow for your business, you can always fall back on your list.</p>
<p>Once you start building it up you can direct your customers to a sales funnel and start converting them on higher ticket items. If you keep the customers on your list happy you will get great conversions and build up trust.</p>
<p>The way to keep your list happy is by using the same methods you used to initially get these customers on your list. Give them free quality stuff from time to time, and reasonable product offers of great value.</p>
<p>Free stuff can be used during many different phases of your Internet marketing. Always keep your eyes open for something you can give away to both new visitors to your website, and your list. People really appreciate getting something for free.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>A lot of people in Internet marketing do not take the time necessary to build subscribers</strong>. They concentrate all of their marketing effort on other things and completely ignore the list.</p>
<p>There are a lot of ways to build a list, some faster and some shorter, but this article is not going to deal with those details. Instead, the focus will be on why you must get started immediately in building a database of subscribers, and the consequences for not doing so</p>
<p>One of the easiest ways to explain this would be with an example. Person “A” does not want to build a list. He builds an affiliate review site, perhaps dozens of them, and then promotes his site with marketing. He writes dozens of articles telling people to go visit his site and buy his product. They do, and he is happy. He gets 2% of the readers to click on the link in his resource box and this leads to sales. Over an amount of time, while those articles are circulating, he adds more so that he is getting a larger volume of sales. He does other marketing activities as well, and does pretty good for himself.</p>
<p>On the other hand, Person “B” puts an opt-in box on his site for a free e-book, and everyone taking his offer agrees to be signed up to his list. He writes dozens of articles, submits them and gets a 2% click through rate. He makes less money (perhaps from subtle links within the e-book) but builds up his list. He writes more articles just like person “A” did and submits them too. His list is building up, but he is making less income currently. His older articles are still circulating, and he is adding more. His list is getting bigger, and he is getting ready to introduce some products to these people. At this point he has made few money, but he is happy because he has a long-term plan.</p>
<p><strong>The difference between these two people rests in two things:</strong></p>
<p>1. The 2% click through rate for person “A” will result in sales, but the conversion rate on that 2% will be lower than the conversion rate for person “B” that is offering a free product, while building up his list. A lot more people are going to sign up for a free product than purchase a product outright. People love to get things for free!</p>
<p>2. Person  “B” has a long-range plan for continuous sales and person “A” does not. Person “A” has to have unique traffic hits in order to make money. He needs to constantly find new customers all the time, and cannot concentrate on anything else; or else his sales will drop. He has set himself up to continuously have one focus only. He can still make a lot of money this way, especially if he builds up a large amount of sites that are doing well, but the money is in the list and he is throwing thousands of dollars out the window by ignoring it.</p>
<p>Person “B” sets his plan in action by building rapport and trust with his list; he gives them something of value and does not hard sell during the relationship-building phase. He continues this with his existing customer base while he keeps on building up the list. After some time he will directly offer an item to his customers that he feels will give them good value and help them in that certain niche. He will get sales based on building up their trust and respect. He will probably get a lot of sales and make a lot of money. He will continue this routine, sending out good value, mixed with occasional offers of high quality; and as this list grows, so will his income.</p>
<p>At some point the momentum has built up so strong that he no longer has to put too much energy into building his list, it will just seem to grow by itself. At this level, he can work more on the offers he is sending out, give coaching lessons or one-on-one consultations at a very high fee, hold online or off-line seminars, participate in massive joint ventures, and be considered a respected professional in his niche. This is long-term thinking that results in pure gold.</p>
<p>If you have been sitting on the fence about starting to build a list, jump off and start one. Your workload will be considerably reduced once you don’t have to keep focusing on finding another customer. You can start other projects while maintaining your customer base and growing it. You can expand your site, or start something completely new. You will have more freedom to work and create your business the way you want it to grow, and even have fun with it.</p>
